The card
Jean Fouquet’s Madonna is encircled by the moon, gaze lowered to the earth below. Suspended beneath her is a crab fashioned from the hands of DaVinci’s Virgin Mary and Michealangelo’s God. The crab makes its home comfortably both in the ocean and on dry land, capturing the moon’s power in both the physical and spiritual realms.
The tower of Babel looms over the water as a symbol of human vanity and quest for eternal wisdom while the pyramids are a silent testament to the unknowable. Two canines restlessly occupy the shore, one bays at the moon while the other tends to his immediate needs.
The Moon card encourages us to take comfort in mystery. There are things which cannot be known and striving to know all will only cause mental unrest.
If you find yourself caught up in illusions caused by unfounded fears and past traumas it would be wise to connect with your intuition. Beware of making choices based solely on logic and perceived reality.
The moon is a powerful force for unhurried change and healing. Keep in mind that there is intentionality behind any difficult emotions rising to the surface, remember to let your inner voice be what ultimately guides you.
