Four of Pentacles

Structure in the embodied life

The card

In this card, the number four (and the four fish) returns. Four is the symbol of foundation in the physical world and the Pentacles are a manifestation of the Emperor’s path. Your efforts thus far have borne fruit, your name carries weight, and you have established something greater than yourself in the world.

The Four of Pentacles represents the Emperor’s first “castle”, so to speak. As with all things in the physical world, it continues to require pruning, nurturing, and directing in order to flourish.

What structure genuinely supports you through body, labor, resources, home, and inheritance?

The archetype in motion

The psyche gives experience a stable form, while risking rigidity and overcontrol. Here it moves through body, labor, resources, home, and inheritance. Its gift becomes available when the reader can hold both its conscious expression and the less comfortable possibility carried in its shadow.
