Disruption in the discerning mind
The card
The conservative rationalism of IV is now broken open by a fifth sword rising up from below. If in the Four of Swords we observed the first tangible artifacts of a dream state bursting into the physical world, then the V (five) supersedes all previous efforts at maintaining order and immediately disrupts them.
The swords represent the intellect and its connection to both the physical and metaphysical realms. It is as often a pruning as it is an expansion of one’s place in this world.
Know that this fifth sword does not come from above or below, but from the realm of your own heart. This represents a testing period and a honing of your world view, cutting away all that can no longer stand in light of it.
