Seven of Hearts

Roman generals returning victorious rode through the city in a chariot, and the tradition held that a slave stood behind them murmuring memento mori — remember you will die — so triumph never curdled into delusion. The Seven's charioteer needs exactly that whisper. This is eros mobilized into action: love that launches ships, funds causes, marches for people it has never met. Jung would call it the animus in its most idealistic register — conviction given legs. Its particular danger isn't cruelty but exhaustion: a heart driving this hard toward an ideal can come to despise anyone moving slower, including, eventually, itself.
