Four of Hearts

The Roman domus turned inward — blank walls to the street, an open courtyard at its center, life arranged around what mattered rather than displayed to what didn't. The Four builds that same kind of enclosure: a relationship organized deliberately around permanence, a home, a nest, a future held in common rather than a feeling held in the moment. Jung's senex shows up here fully domesticated — order in service of growth rather than control for its own sake. The shadow waiting in the courtyard is subtle: a garden walled carefully enough starts to mistake its own stillness for safety, and stability that was meant to shelter something living can start, quietly, to embalm it instead.
